Acne can be a real problem and medication is often expensive. Why not try out some home remedies for acne? Getting rid of acne without costly lotions is not impossible.

Lotions, creams and other acne products are used widely by people facing acne problems. But getting rid of acne does not mean rubbing all sorts of acne creams on the skin. Although these products can help there are better acne solutions. These home remedies for acne can help anyone suffering from this skin condition.

Home Remedies for Acne

Stop Popping the Spots

The most important thing anyone who wants to get rid of acne should do is stop popping the spots. Popping one can spread an infection under the skin and create even more spots than before. Since this is something those with an acne problem want to avoid, it’s not wise to keep popping the spots.

Use Mild Soaps and no Make-up

Another home remedy for getting rid of acne is using mild soaps for sensitive skin. Why? Harsh antibacterial soap will only make the acne problem worse because it creates irritated skin. The same goes for make-up: don’t use it. Even though make-up can cover up pimples, it clogs pores and thus makes them dirty which will result in even more pimples.

Getting Rid of Acne by Sleeping Well

Sleeping well reduces stress levels. Stress increases the skin’s oiliness which, combined with dirt and sweat, clogs pores. It’s thus very important to get a good night sleep so that stress does not stand a chance. Don’t forget to change the pillowcase frequently (every week) as it can get dirty very fast when used every day.

Eat Healthy for a Healthy Skin

It’s necessary to stick a healthy diet. Eating healthy has a big impact on the skin.

Vitamins A and E, chromium, selenium and zinc all have a positive effect on the skin. Eating enough of these will help cure the acne.

  • Vitamin A can be found in fruit and vegetables and oatmeal. Don’t push it though: too much vitamin A is not healthy either.
  • Zinc is a wonderful player in the war against acne and can be found in seeds, nuts and whole grains.
  • Vitamin E can be found in products like peanut butter, spinach, mango and raw nuts.
  • Selenium can be found in vegetables, bread and meat.
  • Chromium is a real acne enemy. It can be found in brewer’s yeast, oysters, liver and potatoes.

Avoid Touching the Face

People who suffer from acne should avoid touching their faces. Hands have a lot of natural oil on them and transferring this oil to the face is not a good idea.

Give it Time

When trying out these home remedies for acne, keep in mind that curing acne takes time. These home remedies will make a difference in the long run! Give it about 8 weeks and if there are still no improvements then it may be wise to go and see a doctor.
